In short

Green Drinks are informal social gathering occurring in several cities in the world. Its concept is to mix people with a different background, from NGOs?, academia, government and business for example. It's also a lot of fun, and events typically have a surprisingly good attendance.

International gathering

Green Drinks was founded in London, England, in 1989 by Edwin Datschefski, a green designer, after an impromptu gathering at a local pub. A version of the story tells he was sitting with several of his green design colleagues at a pub called the Slug and Lettuce in Northern London, when he noticed an enviro-minded acquaintance at a nearby table.

Groups are now in about 365 cities around the world, including in Japan, Chile, India, Australia and across Europe. Fun is the manifesto of the movement. Gatherings are scheduled at one place per city. Participants include Mike Graham, the founder of the Treehugger weblog.
